Zurich region – Lindau
The Research Station for Plant Sciences Lindau is an ETH Zurich facility belonging to the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS). At the AgroVet-Strickhof platform, ETH Zurich, University of Zurich, and Strickhof combine their expertise in livestock sciences.
It offers the participating professorships at D-USYS and D-BIOL the opportunity to conduct plant science experiments. Facilities include excellent greenhouses and climate chambers, as well as laboratories and a small agricultural experimental plot. Besides research activities, the station is used for practical courses and excursions with students. A special advantage of the location is the proximity to and excellent working relationship with the cantonal agricultural competence centre Strickhof.
The common purpose of the cooperation with AgroVet-Strickhof is a future-oriented research and education as well as exploiting operational synergies. Following a holistic approach “From feed to food”, they address questions relating to livestock science and animal health in an interdisciplinary and practice-based manner.
AgroVet-Strickhof is spread across four sites:
- S-Bahn line S3 from Zurich main station towards Wetzikon, deboarding at Effretikon.
- Bus Nr. 650 from Effretikon station towards Kemptthal (via Lindau), step off at Eschikon.
- Approx. 300 m walk from the bus station to the buildings of the ETH Research Station.
A valid ticket is required for the journey from Zurich main station to Eschikon (three zones 110, 121, 122).
- Motorway exit Effretikon, then turn right towards Effretikon Zentrum.
- After approx. 600 m turn right again towards Brütten (follow the signs).
- Having arrived in Eschikon after 1,8 km, turn left in front of the glass greenhouses (follow the signs ?ETH?).
- After approx. 40 m drive through the open sliding gate on the right hand side.
- The visitor car park is approx. 50 m further on (?P Besucher?).
There are 30 car parking spaces and 25 covered bicycle parking spaces.
