In the new, stair-shaped building in front of HCI, there will be 155 rooms offering space for 260 people. In addition, the 200 metre-long building will contain meeting and seminar rooms for 190 people. For students, there will be two study halls with 50 workspaces and a kitchen area, a coffee corner and outdoor seating. In autumn 2015, the Department of Materials Science (D-MATL) will move into this new building. The construction site will be accessed via Leopold-Ruzicka-Weg, which runs alongside HCI. Later, this will be the delivery access road for the new building. HCP is being built to provide much-needed space for teaching and research at ETH. When it is completed, many labs in HCI which currently have to be used as offices can again fulfil their original purpose.
