Viola Vogel and Raffaello D'Andrea elected as members of the National Academy of Engineering NAE
The American National Academy of Engineering NAE has announced the election of 18 new international members. Among them are two professors from ETH Zurich.
According to the NAE media release of 6 February 2020, 87 new national members were elected in addition to the 18 new international members. This brings the number of national members to 2309 and the number of international members to 281.
Among the newly elected international members are two professors from ETH Zurich: Viola Vogel from the Department of Health Sciences and Technology and Raffaello D'Andrea from the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering.
As stated in the announcement, election to the Academy is one of the highest professional awards. Membership in the Academy honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to engineering research, practice or education, including contributions to engineering literature, and pioneering work in new and emerging fields of technology, significant advances in traditional engineering fields, or developing/implementing innovative approaches to engineering education.
The newly elected members will be officially introduced during a ceremony at the NAE Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. on October 4, 2020.
