Roland Siegwart receives Ernst-Blickle Award
Roland Siegwart, Professor for Autonomous Systems at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering, receives the Ernst-Blickle Award 2021 by the SEW-EURODRIVE Foundation. He is honored for his contribution to the development and control of robotic systems.
The SEW-EURODRIVE Foundation presents the Ernst-Blickle Award every two years to individuals from the areas of business and technology. The foundation honored Roland Siegwart at the award ceremony on 6 May 2022 at Bruchsal Palace in Baden-Württemberg (Germany) for his research activities in the field of robotics and for his services as a bridge builder between research and industry. The prize is endowed with 100,000 euros, making it one of the most valuable prizes for individuals in Europe.
Roland Siegwart has been full professor at ETH Zurich in 2006 and co-director of Wyss Zurich since 2015. He leads the Autonomous Systems Lab at the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems. His research focuses on the development of autonomous robots that can handle uncertain information, adapt to new situations, and act interactively.
