The Chemistry Olympiad starts on Monday

The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is being held for the first time in Switzerland from 16 to 25 July 2023 and will take place on the ETH H?nggerberg campus. Over 300 talented young chemists from around the world will spend ten days putting their specialist knowledge to the test, compete for coveted medals and get to know both Switzerland and ETH better.

Polybahn resumes service

Fire brigade operation in the Chemistry Building (HCI) due to fog development

This morning, a fire alarm was triggered in a laboratory in the Chemistry Building (HCI). The cause of the alarm was not a fire, however, but vacuum pumps emitting oily aerosols, which led to heavy fog. The laboratory was accessible again a good two hours later.

The ETH community may now use the Zoom videoconferencing application indefinitely for their work. ETH Zurich has negotiated a solution that incorporates the Canton of Zurich’s data protection recommendations and expands the usage options for ETH students, researchers and staff.

LunchLottery now to be held monthly

The ETH LunchLottery has been growing in popularity over the past three months. Now the LunchLottery drawing will be held once per month instead of every two weeks. This gives the three participants more time to find a meeting slot that works for everyone.
Postponement of the “togETHer” staff party

Every two years, the ETH Zurich community comes together and takes part in the “together” staff party. Last year's event was shifted to this summer due to the coronavirus pandemic. Unfortunately, the decision has been taken to postpone the event yet another year. The next edition of “together” is now scheduled to take place in August 2022.

Challenging times: session exams in the coronavirus era
