Using the sun to commute
Anyone who uses public transport to commute to ETH is already travelling in an environmentally-conscious way. And ETH members now have an even more sustainable way to commute: the solar.mobil pass ensures that when they use public transport in Zurich, their journey will be fuelled exclusively by Swiss solar power.
When ETH members commute to the University, they mostly either use public transport, cycle, or walk.
Sustainable travel guaranteed
ETH Zurich wants to further promote sustainable mobility for its employees and students, and has therefore joined a campaign promoted by the city’s public transport operator VBZ and the local utility company EWZ. The solar.mobil pass (Media release, in German only) is a solar power upgrade for public transport users. It guarantees that for a whole year, their journeys by public transport will be entirely powered by solar power from Switzerland.
A lot of sustainability costs very little
The solar.mobil pass was launched by VBZ and EWZ last year and usually costs CHF 36. ETH employees and students benefit from a corporate discount and additional support from the ETH Zurich Mobility Platform. They can get the solar.mobil pass for CHF 10.
The internal ETH offer is initially limited to 400 passes. It can be obtained by presenting a VBZ/ZVV subscription to 2024欧洲杯开户_欧洲杯APP下载-投注|官网 Info. Sales start today – coinciding with the start of the autumn semester 2017.
ETH Zurich Mobility Platform
The Mobility Platform was established in spring 2016 by Vice President Human Resources and Infrastructure at ETH Zurich, Professor Ulrich Weidmann. Its aim is to promote sustainable mobility at ETH Zurich in order to reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption. It is the central point of contact for mobility-related issues at ETH Zurich, with three main focuses: campus mobility, business trips and logistics. Its projects and measures are coordinated according to the “The Confederation: exemplary in energy” mobility action area.
