ASVZ Sports Week: An impressive range of sports and games complete with a solidarity initiative
Sweat, strain and high fives are on the agenda for sports enthusiasts from 25 September to 3 October during ASVZ Sports Week. Athletes will be kicking off the week by collecting donations for social scholarships.
Couch surfing is now a thing of the past! It’s time to sign up for ASVZ Sports Week. From 25 September to 3 October, sports enthusiasts, team players and those keen on getting moving can take advantage of a wide-ranging programme featuring sports that are not normally available.
Examples include Kundalini yoga and taster sessions in underwater rugby and underwater hockey. Find out how tough you are in a match of Australian Rules Football, take part in a session of canoe polo or the skill games featured in the new ASVZ sports discipline bushcraft. The programme is being constantly expanded and can be found external page here.
ASVZ membership is required to participate, and you can sign up via direct links that you will find in the programme or sports timetable (website or app). The number of places is limited. Some of the offers can already be booked, while some are already booked out.
Charity campaign for social scholarships
Part of this year's Sports Week is the “Do sport & support!” solidarity initiative being rolled out by the ETH Foundation. Its aim is to collect donations for ETH Zurich’s social scholarships, which give financially disadvantaged talented individuals the chance to study at ETH Zurich.
The campaign will take place on Sunday, 26 September 2021, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the ASVZ Sport Center Fluntern. Everyone can take part, whether young or old, sports pro or TV spectator. The patron is ETH Rector Sarah M. Springman.
The varied programme has a lot to offer. Challenge your friends on the rowing machine. Test your archery skills, practice your golf swing or do a bit of orienteering with your family. Follow this up with a massage, cool drink and delicious cake baked by students.
Donations for ETH social scholarships can be made during each activity. ASVZ vouchers or a year’s supply of Focus Water will be raffled off among the donors.
Those who are not so keen on sports or who already have plans for the day can make a contribution to the social scholarships directly on the ETH Foundation website.
