In today's society, many people face the challenge of juggling their work or education with supporting and caring for their loved ones. Whether it is caring for elderly relatives or supporting disabled or ill family members, the demands on those who look after their loved ones are varied and often demanding.
Caring for or supporting relatives takes up a lot of time, which is not always compatible with work commitments. Carers often have to reduce their working hours, leading to financial losses and additional stress. Caring for sick or elderly relatives can therefore be stressful on many levels and lead to feelings of exhaustion.
New programmes at ETH
In order to meet these challenges and achieve a better work-life balance, it is important that family carers receive support and relief.
ETH staff and students can therefore find comprehensive information on flexible working conditions and internal and external support services on a new website.
In addition, ETH Diversity, in collaboration with Human Resources and SSHE - Safety, Security, Health and Environment - is offering an online information event for the first time this spring semester for ETH staff and students who would like to find out more about the topic. The event is open to all ETH staff and students, regardless of whether they are already in a care situation or not. Depending on demand, this format will be organised on a regular basis.
