New category in ETH guest regulations
On 1 July 2023, the new guest regulations of ETH Zurich were introduced. The main changes that were sought, such as a uniform registration process and improved control over the allocation of authorisations, were successfully implemented.
However, the standardised registration process in clearly defined categories showed last year that a certain group of people was not sufficiently taken into account: students and pupils from other institutions who visit ETH Zurich for short visits for personal continuing education and training, for example to complete their bachelor's thesis.
Since 1 September 2024, professors have been able to process these visits via the ‘individual cooperation’ category in guest management. Guests in this category receive an ETH user account, but no ETH e-mail address, no personal ETH card, no full access to the library and no support with migration matters. Detailed information for guests on migration matters can now be found on the ETH website ‘Work permit’.
