Revision of the doctoral thesis
The examiner and co-examiners describe any desired correction requests in the reports and jointly determine these after the doctoral examination has been passed.
They also agree on whether the corrections must be confirmed by the entire examination committee or only by individual members.
Corrections include, for example, more detailed descriptions of results, additions to discussion points and spelling and grammatical errors.
Once the corrections have been made, it is reported to the Departmental Conference. They decide on the award or refusal of the doctoral degree, as well as any application for the granting of an award.
The department forwards the list of approved doctoral theses to the central doctoral administration. All reports must be enclosed with each graduation request and the following information must also be included:
- Surname, first name
- the doctoral degree to be awarded
- the approved title of the doctoral thesis
- the date of the oral examination
- the date of the departmental conference
In the event of a name change, the name that was officially valid at the time the doctoral thesis was approved by the Departmental Conference applies.
Graduation requests must be forwarded to the central doctoral administration office immediately after the departmental conference. As soon as the doctoral candidature list is available, doctoral students are de-registered and receive provisional confirmation of their doctorate in writing.
