At the Institute of new Energy Systems (InES) research projects are carried out in the following working areas.

- Energy System Technology
- Domestic Energy Systems
- Technology Transfer & International Projects
The majority of research projects are carried out in co-operation with renewable energy technology companies as well as further research institutions and international partner universities. Research activities are mainly financed by public authorities/institutions like Federal Ministry of Environment, Federal Ministry of Research and Technology or German Environment Foundation.
